I”m pretty sure we hate being confused with furries. It definitely doesn’t help that there are some furries who insist that all bronies are furries (or even worse, closet furries), and that quite a few bronies can tend to be a bit overdramatic about stuff. (Remember all that drama about alicorn twilight?)

the problem with furries is that anything half human/animal or pure animal that is sentient counts but people dont want to be branded a “furry” because they like a show or game and yet people dont stop.

Kind of sort of? Sapient ponies are by definition anthropomorphic animals, but not all pony fans are into anthro stuff, and not all furries like MLP.
