How about this? Cadance was only slightly older than twilight when she babysat her, and this is set years later when both her and trixie were also teenagers.
 
Ultimately, it boils down to “this is my comic and they can be however old I want them to be”.

Possibility #1: Cadance is an adult here, she’s just rocking her old look for fun.
 
Possibility #2: Trixie is actually significantly older than Twilight, she just ages very well.

Yeah… This story is already broken beyond repair. For a very good reason. Unless Cadance got deaged or something, Trixie should not be here, as old as she is.
 
If this is set during Twilight’s fillyhood, Trixie would be the same age as her.
