Okay, first off, trying to play chicken with the admins in NEVER a good idea.
 
Second, you just flip-flopped. “Everything comes from something.” Yeah, it does. For all I know, Ted WAS derived from a webcomic, or from a Teddy Ruxpin, or another place. When Mr. Hankey premiered on South Park, people thought Matt & Trey ripped off an idea from Ren & Stimpy’s John K., but it turned out to be something from Parker’s childhood.
 
YOU on the other hand keep SHOUTING that Dan is a ripoff of Karkat. Not inspired (which is in itself unlikely), but an out-n-out ripoff, to the point where you write off what the ACTUAL creators of the show say as lies.
 
Is it a ripoff or is it “inspired”? Is it plagiarism or is it a wink and a nod homage/parody? Make up your mind. It’s usually the better choice to listen to the creators when it comes to their stuff rather than baseless fanwank like yours.

Hell, its called inspiration. Bleach for example, parodied Yusuke’s resurrection as a demon from YYH, but that wasn’t outright plagerism, that was inspiration.
 
Its never a good idea to get inspiration from something so recent, but well, it sometimes happens that way. Hell, Seth McFarrlane probobly loved Sam and Fuzzy since it started in the early years of the internet. Plagerism =/= inspiration, but its better to use something more aged.

Everything comes from something. This is common sense law. There is almost no such thing as a completely original idea when it comes to inspiration. And since this is not an Dan vs fansite, its all fine anyways.
 
If I told people Seth Macfarlane stole the concept of Ted from Sam and Fuzzy, it would piss off a lot of Seth Macfalane fans. But this isn’t a Seth Macfarlane fansite, so who cares :)

Calling the head admin irrational and not credible isn’t exactly a good call. Especially not when your first post on this thread was blatantly angry and accusing Dan vs of plagiarism, and by extension insulting the fans of that show.

Oh look, another brainless Homestuck hater. By Homestuck website visit, fan art numbers, and other such factors, when MLP had about 2 million Bronies, Homestuck had 1.2 million and growing. That was ages ago.
 
In fact, MLP’s kickstarter Brony documentary was SURPASSED by Homestuck’s videogame kickstarter by at least 3 times over.

Numbers please. I’m not saying that Dan Vs is insanely popular, hell Homestuck (bleh) might be actually more popular. I just want to see a more unbiased claim than that.
 
To compare Dan to Karkat is like comparing… let’s say Bioshock and Call of Duty. Both are FPS, have people trying to kill you, and both have large fanbases. No sane person is going to say that Bioshock is a ripoff of CoD, or vise-versa.
 
Those two explanations aren’t controdictary either. The design of the characters (the appearance) is based off the creators, while the personality (not appearance like you think) was based off of conjector on what an adult Calvin would be like.
 
I’m not even trying to flame because of my disgust of Homestuck, really. I’m just saying that it’s insane to think that one character was ripped off from another because of a few similarities. The fact you’ve been saying this nonsense since before Ponibooru went down only adds to the madness.

Homestuck has 10 times more fans then Dan vs., and is MLP’s older brother fandom. They both created an inventive fandom with amazing characters that spread across the internet like wildfire. Did you know Karkat is actually equally well known then Applejack?
 
That is not even an exaggeration. As the first troll of Hivebent, Karkat and the Homestuck fandom exploded in size and got famous many months before the Dan vs. was created.
 
@ Too_Offensive That is actually one of two contradictory explanations they gave that were both mostly BS. One was the they were based on Dan Mandel and Chris Pearson in design. The other was that the creator drew Dan thinking what an adult version of Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes would look like.
 
Both were official contradictory statements and obvious lies. The more you know….the less sense it makes in some cases.

Actuall Dan and Chris are based on Dan mandel and Chris Pearson, the creators of the show.  
The resemblance isn’t immediately apparent if you look at them but it’s uncanny once you see it.
