_Wasn’t that thing with faust shooped?
Annnd this is what pisses me off about the whole situation. People like myself and @Sevireth who have actual concerns about this decision are being ignored by people thinking we’re one of the people overreacting. Not once in this entire situation did I say that I wouldn’t give this a chance but everyone I try to talk to about it and explain my thoughts and feelings about this choice treats me like I’m crying and throwing a tantrum. Like was said there is plenty more they could do to change up the show. This is getting too close to Mary Sue territory. I am going to wait to see what happens with the show before making my final judgement but I am worried about where this could end up.
Wonder what’ll happen at the frilly pink princess coronation that was only made to sell toys.
The opinion I expressed in the one that changing your character’s nature without a serious reason is a bad move.
And indeed, if change her nature they did this opinion would apply to the show. The only way her nature would not be changed is that if the transformation turns out to be temporary.
And come on, “only her role and pony type”? We will take this little town librarian, make them into a noble of a different race, BUT WE WONT CHANGE THEIR CHARACTER. That would not only be a bad but also a pointless move.
Just like I said, it is all in the execution. And we would be far better off w/o Hasbro’s meddling.
Except what you describe is not anything that’s going on, no matter your idle fantasies. They have not said anything about changing Twilight’s character itself, only her role and “pony type”.
Please save your opinion until you have something to have an opinion of, that is, the episode itself.
For those guilty: get over yourselves. Besides, no amount of whining will change anything. It has been done.

not this way
It all comes down to execution, but even then giving your main character godlike power is a really cheap way of staying relevant — probably even the cheapiest, I can’t think of any worse way.
Not to metion that there isn’t a foundation to shake. Alicorns’ nature is unexplained, what the hell is “Tartarus gates”, who made Alicorn Amulets, what are other sentient species in the world. A thousand and one way of making the show better, but this has to be the worst one.
It’s all Hasbro’s doing.
Faust herself hinted that Twilight has a grand destiny beyond the elements of harmony and that Celestia was almost training her.
Violently shaking up the foundations of your show can be great. Just look at Southpark changing from scattershot gross out to one of the smartest satires on TV.
It’s refusing to change and growing stale that sees great shows die. Just look at the Simpsons. A show that stopped being relevant about ten years ago and ran out of material even earlier.
Just Sidorovich.
Well, they have been hinting at this since the first episode of the show.
There are 3/4 going around whinging and moaning about doom and gloom. Mostly it’s people blurting out wild speculations and yelling at eachother over who’e crazy theory is best.
I can see IPs and shit, and it’s getting pretty annoying seeing the same few people going on mad-post rampage trying to drum out discontent that isn’t all that severe.
It’s a great way to make money, however.
