The spin-up time is tiny at best. It pretty much fires the second you press the button as the barrels begin their rotation which happens very quickly. Enough to cause the weapon to want to yaw left briefly due to the initial rotation. But like you said, recoil is still a concern. You definitely won’t be hip-firing it unless it’s an XM-556.
And, yeah. You’d be cleaned up with a bucket afterwards. So there’s that.
unreliable in the sense that its big, bulky, heavy, requires an electric motor, time to spin up, and a stable solid weapon platform, id rather have a mg42 or 34
but i suppose suicide with a minigun its an exotic way to die, if you dont mind turning into a red paste across the room

It’s actually one of the most reliable machine gun platforms and is civilian legal in the US if you manage to find specific ones for sale. Expensive, yes. About 200+ thousand dollars for one. As it relates to this image though, they have magic, so they could probably stand in front of it and still press the fire controls…

If it’s fire rate you want go with a minigun.
Why not get something with a bit more firing rate…like an MP5. ;)

If an attempt was made with 6 bullets. The gun would jam. If an attempt was made after unjamming the gun, a bird would knock the gun right when the trigger was pulled so that it misses. And if another attempt was made, the bullet would orbit to not hit the head.
