On the first statement… yes. You got it. Those show followed a linear story from the beginning to the end, and their finale completely fucked up any good purpouse. So they will be forgotten and it will be like they never happened…. well except for Gumball. Its stories were standalone even thought there was continuity in them so even thought the finale was disappointing, the show can still be remembered with pleasure (ironically enough, the finale of Gumball sucked only as FINALE. As standalone episode thought, excluding the last scene it was actually really fun). The same could have been said about MLP if the finale would have been disappointing: it was a slice of life show and while there was continuity, the stories were standalone and enjoyable on their own, so even if the finale would have been disappointing, the show wouldn’t have been forgotten fast regardless. It all depends by the nature of the show.

They did not hire any writers? Really? Why would they think that was a good idea?

Game of Thrones was just an incredibly difficult show to watch even from the start. Apparently, in the last season Dumb & Dumber (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss) didn’t hire any writers, and instead wrote everything themselves. It shows. I’m kind of glad I bailed halfway through Season 6.
 
As far as Pony goes, ever since the beginning of the show there’s someone who isn’t going to like any given episode, and that’s completely expected. I’d be genuinely surprised if everyone without exception loved the finale. I mean, I loved it, but others can can absolutely feel as they wish.

So that means MLP will be more remembered than GoT and GoT will be left forgotten because of the finale? (Same goes for Gumball, Voltron and Star vs.?)
 
Also, explain how did Marvel got away from straying from the comics but not GOT straying from the books? Makes no sense.

I finally decided to give the show a try this year and I finished it before the last season arrived, I only spent one year to this show and still felt frustrating, meanwhile MLP made me cry and I felt like all these years in the fandom were good spent. Even Big bang Theory made more emotional finale than GOT is amazing.

This come from a non-fan of GoT: the most frustrating thing of the finale being disappointing, is that due to the one-long story format, it completely fucked up everything that was built on the show making it completely pointless. In other words, it’s like GoT never existed, it was an entire waste of time. I empathize with all the people who followed the show passionately, only to get that. It must feel devastating to be “devoted” on a show for almost an entire decade only to realize that you wasted so much time of your life…

But the biggest complain about the GOT finale was that it barely made any sense, they forced it and changed the characters in order to fit the plot. MLP finale was logical to the rest of the show

I didn’t watch it either. My parents tried to get into it but gave up pretty early.

You mean… just with the finale or… with the series as whole? Because if it was the latter it would mean that the entire series until the last two seasons was successful… “accidentally”…

Technically it has ended with Change Your Mind and the Movie. The Future series is just an epilogue miniseries.

I think the problem with GoT is at the root: after S6, they ran out of books to base the story on. That’s might be why GoT’s finale was completely messed up.

Why would that be awkward? It makes sense that GoT a turbulent and at times shocking series would have the more controversial finale.

It probably also helped that the showrunners for MLP actually had experience in the field and knew what they were doing, unlike the GoT showrunners. Not even joking, there was an interview with those two recently and the way they openly talk about how they were basically completely incompetent is just… yikes.

To be fair, other than Big Bang Theory and Steven Universe, MLP is the only show that ended on a good note this year, and considering that A LOT of shows ended this year, that says much.
