well, actually project horizons chapter before last subverts this quite nicely. Discord himself this something went wrong in the timeline and that season 3 was supposed to happen but didn’t.

Actually, the Original Fallout Equestria description on EQD already points out that it was set in an Alternate Future.

The original story said Discord’s statue disappeared shortly after the war. He was locked in stone before the fighting even started. If he were released from stone before the war even began, this would greatly affect the timeline. I.E.: Celestia has him use his power to defeat the zebras, the Megaspells are never made and the Wasteland never exists. Everyone lives happily ever after! Then we’d also have no Little Pip…so it’s a bit of a trade off.

My theory is much simpler then most being thrown around right now: FoE takes place in a seperate universe from the show.
 
According to some theorists, a new parallel universe is created every time a decision is made. While we go on living in this one, an alternate version of us lives out their lives as if we picked the other option.
 
I believe that in the show’s off-screen time (Somewhere during the end of Season 1 or the middle of Season 2 if I had to guess), there was a conflict with the zebras. In the show’s universe, Celestia followed Golden Blood’s advice instead of seizing the coal shipment. With a little help from everypony’s favorite bastard, relations with the zebras were smoothed out again and all was well.
 
The other thing you have to remember is this is one fan’s interpretation of what COULD happen, not what did or will happen. He’s just expressing a “What if?” scenario, and if it doesn’t line up, that’s fine by me.

I like to see all of season 3 (with the possible exception of episodes 1, 2, 6 [Sleepless in Ponyville] & 7 [WonderBolt Academy]) as nothing more than some of the Mane 6’s death dreams, So Keep Calm & Flutter on Would’ve been one of Fluttershy’s dreams/hallucinations while trapped as a tree, while Magic Duel was in twilight’s head between recordings before the goddess consumes her
 
Then Reason I allow 1 & 2 is that The Crystal Empire only ever seems to show up when there is no threat to Equestria and I like the Idea of it disappearing overnight and having Twilight Sparkle have to deal with the loss of Cadence and Shining Armor, and maybe even purging herself of the memories to deal with the pain of losing her brother.

If Discord “didn’t behave” and wrecked things again, then Fluttershy would probably have ceased being such a naive idiot after being betrayed like this.
 
But FoE is more important for me than the show, so I don’t give a fuck.

Considering taht the apperiance of Discord kinda distroyed FoE’s consistency with the show, i don’t care.

Or Discord couldn’t live without creating chaos, so they turned him into stone again.  
Or it’s set in a alternative universe, just like what 98% of us seemed to believe?

Wartime Equestria was a harsh place. I think that Discord was stoned again even before he could rebel. Just as a precaution. KcaFo actually makes FoE canon even deeper.

OP must be referring to FOE side fics. The mane story only had the briefest mention of Discord, and this episode has no impact on that.

Eh, fanfics are noncanon anyways so don’t really care.

Eh to be honest, I still don’t acknowledge Watcher with wings. I think when that one episode came out, his wings should have been removed. I mean just as there are more than one kind of ponies, there are more than one kind of dragons.

This one’s very, very simple to rectify. Discord sees what the princesses are up to very early on in the war, objects to the misuse of his power, and rebels against them. Gets stoned again. Body used to make Flux.
 
In fact, the new canon introduced by this episode gives it an interesting betrayal angle instead of casting Discord as nothing more than a simple villain whose unique attributes the ponies used for their own benefit. Cue memory orb with Fluttershy tearfully babbling on about how she lost a friend that day.

AFIK, the whole Discord/Flux thing is limited to Project Horizons, so this only really affects one fic, which I’ve always considered to be an alternate universe of an alternate universe in the first place.

A pony in FoE called out on Spike having wings considering he never had any wings in the past. Spike explained that his growth in the past was un-natural and due to greed. Maturing the normal way allowed him to develop wings.
