I wouldn’t go with that excuse. Maybe more along the lines of “The world wronged her at some point and this was the only way she knew how to react. She is just a filly after all.”

I’m honestly relieved that they did not reform the three, while leaving Sombra to the winds.

That’s another sin to add to this finale. Twilight had no say whatsoever in their punishments.

I don’t think Twilight wanted to give up on the villains. “Those who find the light” could have referred to them as well. I love Chrysalis, but she only made things worse by not keeping her mouth shut.

But she didn’t, and sadly, petrification was the consequence. I’ll always adore Bughorse, but she dun fooped up.
 
Also I feel that trying to redeem the four (including Sombra) would have been a much better plan on Discord’s behalf than “epic fight = confidence lol”.
