In the Adorkable-verse, Twi and her roomies just live in a regular house. No castle.
I had hoped they would not do that, as I would have preferred if part of Spike’s growing up was having a life outside of service under Twilight. Yes, an ambassadorship is an important role, but then I also felt that making Twilight a princess was a mistake so had hoped to see him doing something, anything, else.
Well, as far as the canon is concerned, the finale did reveal that not only does Spike move with Twilight into Celestia’s castle, but he also takes on an ambassador role (albeit said role had technically been established already in a previous episode), which actually entails more responsibility than most adults are used to anyway. I may not be able to speak for anyone else, but I was certainly ok with how that was handled.
Some of them don’t have him come back at all, either because he’s now with Rarity, his term of service to Twilight has ended, or both.
The only thing we know for certain about Spike’s work with/for Twilight is that Celestia made her his caretaker, which suggests that at some point he will go and live his own life.
Then again, more often than not it seems that Spike is Twilight’s caretaker, so if he ever did move out there’s a good chance she’d starve to death with as often as she forgets to eat while studying.
That’s one thing that’s always bothered me about fan-fics where they have Spike move out to “grow up” and become “a young man of his own.” So he’s supposed to commute to Twilight’s castle every day to clean her vast, empty, echoing palace and then go back to his one-bedroom studio apartment?
I mean, it IS a big castle. Most of it is just going to waste. If it weren’t bottle necked, two people could live there and never even acknowledge each other.
That’s what growing up in that direction usually entails.
