There are hundreds of ponies, and only a finite number of color schemes that are visually appealing. It’s not that surprising.

I don’t want it to sound like I’m taking sides but I’m pretty sure that what has happened.
I just wish people (not only in this fandom but everywhere) should stop taking stuff like this so seriously and just respect other people’s opinion, I mean, you don’t even have to like it just be a little considerate.
Oh well, thanks for your input.

Aw man this again? Look dude, anything is possible. I don’t particularly feel like that’s the case, but you never know, it would be cool to find out it was. I just look at it like who cares ya know? Everyone is entitled to their opinions as long as they aren’t hurtful right?

There’s no way these color choices are coincidences
I’m sorry, but I highly doubt that they were deliberate. I mean, even ignoring that Lauren’s original idea for the main characters involved entirely different color schemes (for the most part), why would they go out of their way to make a deliberate reference to these things? Especially when you consider that, even in the first season, the people in charge pushed back on the idea that Rainbow being something of a tomboy meant she had to be a lesbian as well. Or that the flag next to Pinkie Pie has only been a thing since around 2010, and the character was almost designed and being animated well before that was well known (since we know the actual process of making an episode takes a considerable amount of time). Plus I really doubt the first thought they had for why Zecora, the zebra, should be black and white striped is because she’d match the heterosexual flag when black and white striped is literally the species’ natural color.
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’d buy the idea that for maybe one character on the show they sat down and, for the heck of it, based the color scheme off of something like that. But all of these? A smattering of main, secondary, and “appeared in the background for maybe 10 seconds” characters? On a show that had no interest (early on at least) with touching on any sort of romantic pairings? It just doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Lets just meet in the middle and say that it was probably in the back of the designers mind when they were being created.

This. So much this.

I’d wager another reason for the huge number of downvotes on this compared to the other one is that this is years newer and the anti-LGBT people on this site are very loud these days. A lot of those people probably weren’t on the site when it was posted and as such haven’t looked at it or voted on it.

It would be unwise to assume that someone is adamantly demanding that these characters be considered as having these sexualities. It is highly likely that the color schemes and corresponding pride flags are a mere coincidence, sure, but why do we have to downvote it into oblivion? It’s just for fun, right?

Also, I noticed this one, which has the inclusion of a heterosexual pride flag, is nearly identical to one without it, yet has less controversy and fewer downvotes. Why? I know some people that stress their heterosexual pride are actually dogwhistling to anti-lgbt groups, but why would they be in this context, surrounded by our community? Context always matters, and allies are very important in the fight against hatred, intolerance, and violence. Please remember that folks. :)

You included the trans pride flag, but not the cis one‽ I’m offended!
