How about Flutter app, Fluttershy?
It can cross-mobile platform development in Dart language, yet it is kinda complicated to understand and install, hope someone make a logo namesake of it someday.

Thanks, I’ll look into it. To be clear, I have only just started. Literally just started yesterday evening after finally getting a VM working, so I still have to learn the basics before I start any projects. For now it’s a little hobby, but it’s a skill I always wanted to learn.

you can try QB64 if you want. it looks a bit outdated but QB64 is a pretty powerful expansion to the original QBASIC. it’s easy to get into and even got a built-in wiki with examples so you can always look up stuff without needing internet.  
and lastly, programs are compiled into executable files so they run much faster and you can use them without QB64 being installed  
though i’d recommend running it on a Windows machine.
 
it honestly doesn’t matter what language you start with, as long as you understand it at some point it will make learning other languages in the future easier.

Serious question, as someone who recently broke into Linux and has an interest in coding, does anyone have any suggestions on how to start learning Python? Or Java, or C, really just coding in general.

(I love how majestically and gracefully she is sitting on that ball.)  
Luna, EqOS’s CTO, dabbled in game scripting at the start of her career, thus her massive experience with Lua.
