Right? I mean it took me about 3 seconds cause that was a translation I never heard before. I knew that cerulean derived from Latin and meant blue, but never heard “sapphirus”. So I googled it and looked around, not just on one site either. Ultimately I searched for “sapphire” and that’s where I got the answer I gave regarding it’s origins and likely meaning. I only found one source that seemed to agree that it meant blue and it was from a gemstone website but I cannot find any solid source. Again most just translate it as “sapphire”. And every Latin Dictionary I’ve checked says that Sapphirus is lapis lazuli which isn’t a gem but a blue metamorphic rock.
 
Either way, from what I can find, it doesn’t really mean “blue” and at best refers to a bluish rock rather than a gem.

I’m not hating the guy, I’m just wanting to point out to those who are already jumping on this wagon and saying that he’s better than Flash may need to actually rewatch the other movies first cause Timber’s not that much of an improvement from what we’ve seen. He’s just another paint by numbers teenage love interest.

You can say “Oh but that thing about sapphires”. Yeah he was wrong. Sapphirus does not mean blue. It’s only where the English word “sapphire” comes from as it just is the Latin name for them. Which likely comes from the Greek sappheiros and the Hebrew sappir from which some linguists think came from Sanskirt “Shanipriya” which means “dear to Saturn”.

Well he’s certainly distinguishing himself from Flash. Smarter, more quips, and definitely more forward. I also like that Twi didn’t have to blush her way through his every insinuation, feels more balanced.
