Interesting theory. I haven’t heard that yet, or at least I don’t remember it because the finale was too many years ago, but I stick to the theory that Chrysalis was just too boosted by the love of Cadance and Shining Armor.

The Chrysalis example is actually that Celestia COULD have beat her, but the amount of power she would have needed to use would have likely wiped out everyone else in the throne room.

Well, whether you like it or not, I think the writers here are returning to a Faustinian idea. As far as I know, Lauren Faust had planned for Twilight to become Celestia’s successor at some point. And I think, if you look at the old seasons again now, it makes sense somehow.
 
Well, I wouldn’t try to overinterpret things. The best joke so far was made by someone who said that Celestia deliberately let Chrysalis beat her in “A Canterlot Wedding”. Such things are absurd, of course. I think the princesses had a plan and often held back to let the Mane 6 do the job. But whether they would have played with the fate of the whole world at the same time, I personally consider to be very exaggerated.
 
Sometimes good intentions can very easily be misinterpreted. In this case I advise to take a deep breath, take a step back and look at the whole thing again from the outside. Is that brilliant storytelling now? No. Definitely not. But is it really bad? I don’t think so. For it to be a show for kids, I felt very well entertained so far. And I had to laugh very loudly at this scene. ;-)

Ironically, since this is the last season, all the large scale situations that can realistically exist are going to be exausted while the princesses are still mostly in play or just after, leaving Discord’s counter to the above point, meaningless.
 
It’s not that the princesses couldn’t help halfway through the series, giving the heroes time to HAVE to stand on their own feet, they’ve always been there and always been useless even though they shouldn’t be. Why? Because the series was played too safe. Too much limbo. Making this a PERFECT deconstruction.
 
At the end of the day, the princesses were always there to wrap things up and be in charge after the main heroes did all the immediate stuff. The heroes don’t know jack about the follow through.
 
There’s a fine line between being a mentor, and being a mere safety net. And the princesses were never even close to that line, they were a safety net all the way.

They do, but all the events the royal sisters took care of were something the 6 didn’t have to deal with, thus a non issue and one usually glossed over in a brief 10 second recap.

Guys just tell me.Royal sisters actually do something? like save day? or really helping? Just tell yes or no not give me a explanation
