A new special animated by Boulder Media in the movie’s animation style? Count me in!

Seems highly unlikely, as the background is totally brand new, and the entire “Twilight with Rainbow Wings” thing seems to be very prominent in the merch for this fall, based on the special.

They did? I thought Allspark Studios was responsible for working on it.

Remember that DHX animated the movie.

Could easily be some leftover cheap stock animation, I guess we’ll wait and see.

A few of the Celestia toy ads used custom animation. There was also one for one of the toy Spike ads.

The special is gonna have the same style as the movie? Not surprised, since it was supposed to be a sequel before it was remade as a special… And also because Boulder Media’s banner at last year’s Irish Comic Con showed a movie-style Pinkie Pie.

You have a point. The answer would be because the special is not being made by DHX. It’s likely going to be animated in Toon Boom like the movie then.  

 
That being said, it wouldn’t be the first time they had a special animation for the toy commercials. Some of them do have special animation that’s not used in the show at all.

Doubt it. Why would Hasbro spend the extra money to make an animation like this just for a toy commercial? They don’t even want to spend a few pennies to put the cutie marks on both sides.  
Besides, it would be false advertising if it wasn’t, and a waste of assets.
