Having an MP18 in Battlefield 1 isn’t any more eggregious as carrying around an StG44 in 1942. If that doesn’t break your immersion, I don’t see how another player picking the gender of their choice in multiplayer should. There are other WW shooters that do historical accuracy better than Battlefield has ever done.
Secret Weapons’ vehicles were mostly based on real weapons from World War 2 or prototypes. Like that clown cannon panzer or that lovechild of a Sherman tank and a Katyusha.
I know what taking the piss is, and I know when modern Battlefield fans are being hypocrites about minutia like “accuracy.” Luetin explains it better than I can.
