I’m sorry but in my opinion, its still counts as a plothole. Unless the writer gives out the answer.
Most likely the amount of pages the comic could be was limited and it was dressing enough - since everyone was dressed up - that it felt unnecessary. Basically, just easier to leave it up to the reader’s inference when the why isn’t important.

Makes sense. But why couldn’t the comic confirm it?
Eh, it was probably to show off their regalia. It was a diplomatic show after all. Both weapon and fashionable is a bold statement after all.
(Although the comics are not canon, this concept would be interesting in the show).
