I believe it has to do with this site being based in Europe: site admins are deemed responsible if they let users post illegal content here.
 
Courts of law don’t give a fuck about a character being fictional or bogus "aged-up" disclaimers: if the site gets sanctioned for letting child porn through, the whole userbase might suffer from it, that’s why "better safe than sorry".
