You may be onto something with that contrast. Hippogriffs have historically been very inward-looking, whereas griffon individuals can be quite outgoing (Gilda’s education in forn parts, Gustav le Grande being a semi-famous chef). Hippogriffs’ recent internal split and them learning to deal with it vs. the griffons’ centuries of dealing with basically everyone not getting along and somehow hanging together as a civilisational remnant.

Actually, their dynamic is very interesting. S.S. comes from a very large family and a race that’s very kind between themselves while Gallus has no family and comes from the most selfish, self centered race in Equestria.
