I’ve never read it so I can’t really offer my opinion on it. But based on what I’ve heard, I think I prefer canon MLP for it being a bit more lighthearted. (That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy a feels trip or grimdark stuff now and then. In fact, I do plan on reading it in the future if I get the chance. I just prefer MLP to lean more on the more optimistic side of things.)
