Not quite. What is first and foremostly relevant for Hasbro when it decides about a continuation of the show beyond Season 9, areis the income from toy sales. Particularly from sales of toys based on the movie and Season 8.

The movie is something for Hasbro to give a big push to the show and to let it become even more popular and to bring in even more money that way.

So, the movie toys and Season 8 toys (because a higher amount of sales of them shows Hasbro the movie has a significant, positive influence on the franchise) are what the fate of MLP: FiM hangs on right now.

If they get a lot of sales, Hasbro will most likely want the show to continue instead of rebooting it. And this is something everyone can contribute to. Speak with your wallet.
