Not a luna fan either. She started this whole redemption trend to begin with. Pretty much all the redemptions on this show were terrible or myopic.

Funny, nobody complained when it was Luna, hot off getting blasted in the face with magic and being sorry despite having a thousand years to be angry. It’s not like being shrouded in darkness forever wouldn’t eventually kill Equestria. It’s not like she didn’t usurp the throne or anything. She was really sorry, and everyone bought it. Still the most popular character of all time, wins popularity polls every time she’s in them.

People didn’t seem to have a problem when Sunset did it in Rainbow Rocks despite it being like two months at the most since she was blasted with magic learned. So that’s not exactly an argument. Just sayin’.

Oh boy, I know it’s just a mouthpiece but being lectured about morality by a Mind rapist who only recently learned that treason and kidnapping is wrong feels so…ugh.

The wording is off and it overall sounds very pretentious and passive agressive, but as a Starlight fan, I can kinda sorta get behind this.

Oh boy, another one who wants to act like Twilight Sparkle should be the most powerful wizard in the world. Why is it so hard to accept that maybe, just maybe studying magic doesn’t require the direct supervision of Princess Celestia?
 
It’s not like Twilight’s the only unicorn in history to study magic. And back in season 1 we learned that she wasn’t born with magic use as an innate talent, struggling as a filly with just using telekinesis. She’s shown to be powerful, but unskilled.
 
Sunburst provides a foil to Twilight in this way, having studied magic intensely under Celestia and ultimately not having the raw power to become an accomplished mage. Why, then, can Starlight not be an example of a unicorn on Twilight’s level who learned her skills independently?
 
I’m not trying to be vicious here, I just really don’t understand why Twilight must be special when Celestia has a school dedicated to teaching magic to unicorns who wish to learn. We readily accepted Twilight’s skills even before this explanation existed. But for some reason Starlight’s OP? There’s zero evidence that suggests Twilight’s powers were exponentially increased from her ascension, so the alicorn argument really doesn’t fly.
