She is, but that was an established fact. Her art critique isn’t the root of that.
It does still mean she’s a cunt.
Or, you know, they just don’t have the time and patience to teach a little kid how to draw. Or even care about Apple Bloom or her art. That doesn’t mean Sugarcoat’s input is worthless, only that she’s not inclined to give it to just everyone who accosts her.
since her target was a kid that was to harsh, but if you know who she is you would expect a blunt level of rudeness.
Honesty isn’t all that matters; being a decent person matters to. In the example AJ also wants to help and encourage AB, while Sugar Coat is fucking damaged or is fucking damaged and wants to crush AB’s spirits.
Eh, not really into feeding their egos by asking them for help. If they had anything worthwhile to say, they’d have said it upfront. I’d just skip to the ignore and leave part then.
It’s a waste of time to respond to someone like Sugarcoat that way. It’d be better to ask how it could be improved, and if they don’t give any actual criticism from then on, then ignore and leave them.
Is the point to argue, or to reach a satisfactory level of art?
See now, Sugarcoat here might think Bloom’s really bad at art (even though she’s a kid and hasn’t had the time it takes to practice “good” drawing) but art is subjective. Apple Bloom clearly meant to draw Zecora, and she conveyed that in her image by capturing Zecora’s basic characteristics. So Sugarcoat’s judging based on aesthetics rather than conveyance. At any rate, who cares if she thinks Apple Bloom’s bad at art? What purpose does that opinion serve? That she thinks Bloom shouldn’t even try even though it takes practice to be good at art in the first place? Sounds to me like Sugarcoat’s bad at critique.
Now AJ’s got the better mindset here, but it’s a bit vague as to how Bloom can improve. After all, what’s better to AJ may not be better to Bloom, you know? So the better mindset still is to ask whether she’s striving for more realism, with defined forms and believable anatomy, or more stylization, with more exaggerated proportions and simplified details.

That’s risky. Even if they don’t put their money where their mouth is, you’re still gonna look like a bigger jackass who can’t come up with an argument.
Dry a baby with newspaper? That’s nonsense. I suggest garnet paper (40 grit).
Don’t bully her.
@Four Tet
It’s a ploy. Either they put their money where their mouth is and you gain some useful knowledge at the paltry cost of a little pride, making yourself better while turning their ego against them, or they back off and look foolish. That’s what they get for being rude.

Usually the last famous words before you get BTFO’d. Then you’re really hit in the gut!
Also, you know Sugarcoat would be throwing all kinds of art knowledge at you the moment you
demandask for pointers. Just like an art professor.Indeed, both Applejack and Sugar Coat are telling the truth, based on their perspectives, or that’s what I’m assuming. It’s just that Applejack’s giving good advice, while Sugar Coat, ironically, is just criticizing.
The punchline is “terrible.” Get with the program.
