"They" is a pronoun, but it is used in the subjective case; "them" is the objective form of the word. (I admit that I had to search for that online) Although "they" is a pronoun, you had a logical explanation for your statement, so I am not going to criticize you.

I can understand why people do not like the idea of over two genders, but I also do not believe in antagonizing others who use them. At one time, I even had gender confusion myself, though not all alternate gender individuals are confused.
