Well, many other games do that too, but still have main default/canon names for characters. Like Earthbound, and most RPGs.
It looks like they’re stopping that now.
Some of the recent releases have link be the default name when you select a new file and breath of the wild got rid of the optional name completely
Which is weird ‘cause in most games his name isn’t Link. It’s [your name here].
Well, there was “The Adventure of Link,” “A Link to the Past,” “Link’s Awakening,” and “A Link Between Worlds.” (Which was recently rereleased as a “3DS Nintendo Selects” discount title.)
So the li’l green guy got some title drops, at least.
