it’s discouraging to hear that,There are times when our dreams overshadow those of others rarity has already made his decision and his name is capper
it’s not that she doesn’t recognize it, it’s that she says he’s not what she’s really looking for(using the excuse that he’s too young); it’s the fact the spike doesn’t turn a blind eye but endures it with high hopes(which I might add is quite unlikely based on the general treatment of spike from the show), She is and will almost(‘almost’ as in she will barely ever change) always ignore spike’s general feeling in the matter cause that’s who she is, she chose this path and expects spike to eventually grow up out of his feelings.

that’s the comics and mostly still just Spike’s one sided love while Rarity considers him a very close and genuine friend, for a mostly bad but still relevant example take the dynamics of Sonic and Amy; Amy one sidedly loves sonic and sonic only sees her as a friend and still considers her very important to him but only as a close friend. Rarity sees Spike as a dear friend just like she sees the rest of the main 6, she’s just as willing to help them no matter the problem
if I know (greed attack) but in the comics of nightmore rarity the ruby of fire represents more than a simple gem

less on love an more of what he considered his gift to her, in hindsight it wasn’t for her to begin with it was supposed to be spike’s special snack until she ‘persuaded’ him to give it to her.
