I prefer thinking of the _*miracle of life_* hokey as a sort of societal/religious lie to trick people into becoming parents.
 
A necessary one I guess,seeing as how in enlightened societies, the birth rate's sinking steadily as more people realize it's a whole lot of burden for a small chance of offspring with a successful life.
 
and/or a convenient euphemism for *"well shit son, should've used a condom.but you can't tell the kid they were an accidenr"*
