I don’t see where you were going with the analogy. Were you implying something? What I’m saying is that I appreciate more shipping fuel between Sunburst x Starlight. I mean, like you said–the theme of this picture is “family.” Starlight sees Sunburst as the pony she could call a family, either in the “brother-figure” sense, OR–as a potential husband. I prefer to think the latter.

Let’s put it this way. Imagine if Shining Armor was not introduced as Twilight’s brother but as Twilight’s childhood friend instead… Canterlot Wedding would be about Shining Armor getting married to Princess Twilight.

Of course it would be Sunburst. Look at all the characters. They are immediate family members. Since Starlight doesn’t have siblings and her parents have yet to appear, assuming they’ll ever appear, Sunburst is the closest pony she has to call as immediate family. Trixie was never conceived as an integral part of Starlight’s back story.
 
Seems like Scootaloo is considered as part of RD’s family while Spike, at least for me, should be considered with the Sparkle family but it seems like he’s more connected to Celestia and Luna…
