DNA can'’t make changeling stuff happen any more than blueprints you give a team of construction workers can make them instantly able to dissassemble a city into an entirely different city :p
Except it'’s even less capable because it can'’t make things move on their own (it can make them capable of moving but not actually move to a particular place), but the construction workers can.
Also construction workers can plan things intelligently. If you just change a city'’s "“dna"”, though, each building will slowly break down but repair itself to different blueprints, making them dysfunctional and fall apart.
So changing DNA or DNA expression radically to another creature'’s would certainly kill it.
...
…dang, I'’m being annoyingly contrary in this thread :P
It'’s just...… DNA, people. Epic misunderstanding of cellular stuff is like a common trope in fiction, and it really kills it for me. And miseducates people.
Poor DNA. It just wants to be understood :q
~(And passed on. Mostly just passed on and copied.)~
~If you think about it living creatures are just vessels whose soul purpose is to multiply and pass on DNA. Slaves to DNA, which demands immortality and all the universe.~
~At least from a “why does it exist” perspective in a materialistic-nihilistic worldview \>.\>~
