I know, right. I got an offcial Rainbow Dash toy and her mane colors were off.

Cheap, low quality made in China (or any third world country) shit.

That also describes >90% of the products too, dingus.

Actually, FrontWinner plushies costs between $20 and $40 on Ebay, so there isn’t too much price difference and they look accurate. It’s true that there are some good plushies that costs $200 (usually made by independent artists) but it’s not too hard to find a good and cheap plushie.

@Malvolio
Oh yeah, what an evil corporation, they should totally introduce a $200+ product line to cater to an unknown, very narrow target demographic they have zero experience with. How dare they stick to a business model they know works instead of trying to capitalize on a niche audience that may - or may not - put their money where their mouth is when the product line actually comes out.

Congrats, OP, you just compared merchandise marketed to collectors with merchandise meant to be played with by 4 to 10 year olds.

(The McDonald’s toys are slightly better than standard Hasbro toys, but not that much better. Particularly when compared to the closest match, the blindbag figures.)

If you want a good quality, show-accurate plushie it’s going to set you back at least $200. The plushies that Hasbro liscenses out only cost about $10, you get what you pay for.

Also good luck getting a normal, casual fan or parent of a fan of the show to fork out $200 for a decent looking plush.

Let’s be fair here, mass market toys are beginning to be commonly made in places other than China too like Vietnam & Indonesia.

& boy is it weirdly interesting to me to look at some of the more recent miniatures & seeing how they have to squeeze “Made in Indonesia” on such a tiny foot.

But yeah, can’t forget to include time investment for fan works now that you mention it.
Durabiznik

@Durabiznik
That’s a good point, price should also be taken into consideration (likely price of materials for the fandom category, maybe?).

Materials, while a much bigger expense for an individual than a massive business sourcing it wholesale, are rather cheap in the end. But people’s time is valuable, and if you spend upwards of two weeks working on a single big plushie, you’re probably not gonna let it go for cheap, not if you want to eat and pay rent. That’s obviously not the case for a China-based slave factory set up to mass-produce toys.

I know that it’s dead, I am only comparing some of the third party toy manufactures. And yes, I forgot the good stuff, I said it in the previous comment, I’ll edit that later.

@OneOverTwo

Why? The thing is that Hasbro should have the most accurate merchandising. I don’t see the problem at comparing Hasbro to the best third party manufacturers. I already know that there are “bad stuff” in some un-official toylines.

I want to say that you probably shouldn’t take out the more positively viewed toylines either if you’re going to be making a judgement on Hasbro’s toys’ quality.

Sorry, sometimes i have a loud mouth. I’m saying by now most people have realized that the third party toy manufactures (UN-licensed, fandom or licensed) have a much higher quality and much more show accurate. This meme is dead.

Yes we get it, third-party companies are better at making show-accurate ponies. Also i’m pretty sure this is borderline slanderous since you only paint Hasbro at their lowest points forgetting the “good stuff”.

Way to cherry pick then.

‘Specially since I’m half sure those plushies aren’t even directly from Hasbro.
Looks like the plushies made under license by Funrise, I think.
