Understandable, but I really don’t see the point in forming a ‘headcanon’ around this when the creators have made it clear that it is canon. You don’t form a headcanon around whether or not Bruce Wayne is Batman, that’s all I’m saying. Plus, it’s best to go with the less complex explanation.

A: “There’s another dimension with human versions of characters from Equestria.”
B: “There’s an alternate timeline in the main series where Twilight Sparkle goes to another dimension with human versions of characters from Equestria.”
Dude, people say stuff like that all the damn time. Nobody takes it seriously! Just because you weren’t born with an innate inkling of hyperbole/sarcasm doesn’t mean it wasn’t a joke. I’ll admit it was a slightly cruel joke, but nothing to a level you’re making it out to be.
I personally headcanon that EG is actually an offshoot of the show’s main timeline (buy your torches and pitchforks here: 1-800-555-KILL), but I’d at least not be so butthurt about people poking fun at me for it.
