Indeed it is. I don’t know all the specifics, but it was mentioned at HASCON that it would have to do with ownership of Canterlot or something.

Would be a shame if true. Take Aspen, another appearance would be a great chance to show his more reasonable side or he would be the perfect one of the above candidates to bring up the border dispute.

There’s also the possibility that some of characters on the cover aren’t going to appear in the comic. Evil Cadance and Good Chrysalis never appeared in the Mirror-Verse story despite being featured prominently on the cover.
 
So maybe Sea Breeze, Aspen (sham that Blackthorn hasn’t replaced him) or Queen Novo may not appear at all.

But the reason for this is most likely it would make this front cover look too busy and oversaturated. It says we’re going to see the changelings in this story, so nothing to worry about.

And yet no Thorax at all.
