Well if I’m writing the story, that “tree” is a simplified map of the Farwood itself, and entire gathering of about sixty four or so galaxies and 32 Nebulas all entwined with each other forming a great Tree of Life, such is my own meaning of “Farwood”.
 
But since this is just fan fic fuel, for anyone else writing this it can just be some literal tree on some planet somewhere.

I think I remember Mettaton explaining his attempt at taking Frisk’s soul because he actually likes humanity. Yoink the soul for himself and escape past the barrier, so that Asgore can’t use the soul to break the barrier and start a war against humanity. The becoming a superstar bit would just improve relations for if and when Asgore finally got a seventh soul.

Are you really gonna try and give Mettaton a free pass for his behavior? One minute he was pretending to try and kill Frisk but then decides at the last minute to just take Frisk’s soul for himself and leave everyone in Underworld behind. Plus he’s over half the reason Burgerpants is so fucking miserable.
