Twilight was making an educated guess about ‘INSTINCTIVE’ Dragon behavior. There is nothing wrong with idly pondering a species behavior and neither was she saying that they all acted upon it like mindless drones. What’s more, Dragons are naturally greedy and violent in western mythology. Griffons are the same. Changelings are agressors as well. Where is the difference?
Those three species are carnivores. It is their nature to be aggressive. Ponies are herbivores. It’s why they are so skittish, even running from rabbits. There was nothing objectively wrong with Twilight pondering aloud a species instincts because they are different species and they will instinctively act different.
