  1. Discord spends most of his time in another dimension. He likely doesn’t even know any of this happens until afterward.
     
  2. Let’s wait and see just what happens with the other princesses, one would assume the villains came there with the means to trap them.
     
  3. Why would Ember or Torch have anything to do with this? They’re ways away and have no way to know what is happening.
     
  4. Starlight can’t travel through time anymore, the spell was taken away and she needs the map to boost her power. And like others, she doesn’t seem to be in this spot when the attack happens (she’s seen in another part of the city).
     
  5. You’re forgetting the main villain is Storm King, who describes himself as (among other things) a force of nature.

Also Luna and Celestial lose to plants and clouds and changelings so not sure why you’re using them as an example of power.

Shall we talk about villain pedigree?
 
Nightmare Moon. Rose to power for about thirty seconds before getting her butt kicked by Princess Celestia.  
Discord. Rose to power, got his butt kicked by Princess Celestia and Luna.  
King Sombra. King for about a day, Luna, Celestia, butt kicked, yadda yadda.  
Chrysalis. Not sure if including her comic appearances makes her more or less impressive. At least with them she has a few nations despoiled, though surprise, surprise, she also gets a butt kicking from Celestia.  
Tirek. Tried to invade, got his butt kicked. Quite possibly by Celestia!  
Starlight Glimmer. Took over one town. Hey, nothing wrong with thinking small.  
Tempest Shadow: Second in command of an army of sky pirates that have PILLAGED MOST OF THE PLANET.
 
Given we know next to nothing about her, I’m going to judge her on her prior history going in. Which frankly, is a lot more impressive than most villains we’ve met.

Do we actually know Tempest can’t use magic? We certainly see a lot of magical energy coming out of her horn and she clearly has super strength. If anything her damaged horn could just make her magic harder to control and more dangerous.

It seems like you guys slap the “Overpowered” label on any character that’s able to defeat Twilight Sparkle and/or her friends.
 
It’s starting to lose its meaning.
 
Plus, writing 101: Stories are not interesting if the main character is unbeatable. One Punch Man receives an exception because it’s a parody of the entire superhero anime genre.

Actually, if the storm king’s minions and Tempest purposefully herded the mane six to the bridge, just to get them out of the way quickly, then they’re pretty darn smart.
 
There’s also probably some moments in-between or mixed up during this sequence, cause trailer.  
(I took out a couple seconds of Tempest just talking because it interrupted the flow of action)

They feel so nerfed just for the villain to do something for entire movie. How do we call that? Worfed?  
I wonder if a monkey with a stick and a hornless magickless unicorn will also defeat Discord or will they just pretend he doesn’t exist so they could spare him some dignity?
