Well, there was that belief that the Apples and Pies are very-distant relatives.
Maybe she was just “Applina Smith.” And Big Mac was probably “Li’l Mac” when he was young.
The episode kinda confirmed that not every pony’s names are their birth names (like Mrs. Cup Cake) which now explains the whole deal with ponies having names similar to their cutie-marks. The writers are getting pretty savvy now.
I mean, I know that it’s a type of apple, but it still doesn’t seem right for a young [this character].
Funnily enough, “Granny Smith” is actually the name of an Apple variety. That may have been her name all along.
