Does that mean Twilight is the Chosen One who will bring balance to Night and Day? Preferably sandwiched between them?
Twilight.
Too cold? Nah. I live in Michigan, and I wish it was that cold here! :D
Warm locations on our planet – pick almost anywhere between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn – are typically not places where novel astronomical phenomenon are common, e.g. Northern Lights (aurora borealis).
That said, if you’re ever around the Great Lakes during our winter months, I suggest hanging around the leeward (East) side of almost any of the Lakes for a while. The weather can be as interesting as that episode, so I suggest packing snow pants and shorts. lol
Nice, but also seems a bit too cold for humans to watch. Are there any warmer locations where this phenomenon similar to the S4 premiere happens?
I am an adult.
North and South Poles, or anywhere in the Arctic and Antarctic Circles, really. Just has to be the right period of the year; the sun can just barely rise, if at all, or it can be constant daylight.
EDIT: Here is a link to the Wikipedia page about the Antarctic Circle, the subsection on midnight sun and polar night

Also, I’ve been recently reading online that there are actually places here on earth where day and night occur at the same time (with an even split between the two). Is this true? If so, could someone send me some pics?
Princess Molestia: War of the Gods edition?
I refuse to believe in a geocentric universe. I do not care what the Catholic church says.
And that’s why I said “appears.” :P Though that does mean that Celestia’s spinning the planet when she “raises the sun,” which raises further questions.
Geocentric?

your current filter.I can get behind that. After i get behind Daybayreaker
In our world, yes. But in Equestria? Maybe they’re both just magic lights in the sky. Maybe their world is flat.
This solar system appears to be geocentric. And, you know, manually operated. Astrophysics as we know it may not apply.
Good points and something we’d probably address once the story is wrapping up (depending on where we and the questions we get take all of this). At the moment Daybreaker is more concerned that she doesn’t have complete control to fulfill all of her selfish desires, instead focusing on her sister that is still opposing her. As a selfish person, seeing anyone standing in her way is a great way to stoke her ire.
So much this. :D
Kind of. I read it more as Celestia getting to be selfish.
It’s not so much that she uses her full power as much as it is her not giving a toss about what happens to others if she does. Luna wanted herself and her night to be adored by the masses (more or less) so it makes sense that she would go ‘eternal night’ in terms of forcing them to learn to love it (and by extension herself). I can’t see Celestia doing that if she’s gone all Daybreak out of what is essentially simple selfishness.
Rather I imagine that it’d be more a case of no stability in terms of daytime - the sun rises and sets when SHE feels like it and not because someone decided that days begin at, for example, 6am and end at 6pm. Maybe she will leave it up longer so she can finish the book she wants to read. Maybe she’ll bring it down early because she is tired and she isn’t going to sleep while it’s still bright. Maybe SHE feels like a nap and so the sun is coming down for a few hours until she wants it to be light again. Or maybe those pathetic ponies are whining about days and nights and who cares the sun is staying down until they learn that she doesn’t care what they want and that the only opinion in Equestria which matters is her own.
Or something like that.
Heh, that could be the case for this or any other Dayb comic or fic occurring in the same timeframe. Cel sent Twilight to Ponyville, then on the eve of Summer Sun, Moon sieges Canterlot, since Cel’s not at Ponyville and the Mare in the Moon is gone, Twilight gets suspicious, the sequence in Friendship is Magic occurs normally, then afterwards the Mane Six go to a curiously bright Canterlot to investigate, then some weird shit. ;)
No, Daybreaker was more of a “what if Celestia used all her power and stopped letting anything hold her back” scenario.
