Apple Bloom wasn’t born yet
She pretty much had to have been born by that point, though, and just too tiny a babby to be out and about yet; Mac and AJ were arguing at the start of the episode about which would be running Sweet Apple Acres, which is highly unlikely to have been something they would do if their parents were still alive. We still don’t know how exactly they died, so I guess it’s possible they were off at a hospital in a different town or something during Where The Apple Lies, but Mac and AJ sure did seem to me to be in the “getting up and moving on” stage in that episode.
you sure about that? Apple Bloom wasn’t born yet in “when Apples lie” and both were older than Apple Bloom at that time and No parents were to be found.
Do you know a lot about family members who died when you were a small child, and the rest of the family is reluctant to talk about? Mac and AJ were still little kids when they were orphaned, it makes sense they wouldn’t know much.
Realistically, the reason it’s taken halfway through Season 7 to see the Apple Parents at all is that the show simply didn’t feel like going into it until now, and the reason PB and BM weren’t shown with Mac, AJ, and AB is that this was a story about how they met and fell in love, not about the family they later started.
When I first saw Colbert, I didn’t like him because I thought he was a regular Right newscaster, but I would say it took me a few years to notice everything he said was sarcastic or facetious. XD
That’s a very good point, one I had not considered before! While I’m not on spectrum, several of my friends are. They honestly do struggle with allusions and metaphors, and tend to be direct, and take things literally.

I have Spectrum, but it’s not like I have much choice - Spectrum and AT&T are the only two ISPs where I live, and AT&T is just too slow.
I’ve always assumed a handful of users have Spectrum, like me. Partly because one thread I had read some years ago had like five users actually say “I have Autism”. :j
Which may be why some users cannot see certain subtleties in the characters’ expressions or dialogue… Which’d make more sense if we were trying to read real people’s expressions, not hyper expressive cartoons, and… Eh, I dunno. <w<

Which is, frankly, one more realistic thing that makes Equestria feel like a real place full of real people. How often to people bluntly talk about death in general conversation? Everyone is afraid to confront their own mortality or the mortality of those they love, so they dance around the issue with crapulous euphemism and sideways language, like “we lost our parents” or “they passed away” or “they’re gone”. Given the Apple Family’s status in Ponyville it’s silly to think that their parents weren’t also beloved pillars of the community, and that means folks are just going to be hesitant to talk about the tragedy of a well-liked young couple leaving three orphans alone. It makes perfect sense that it’s something Ponyville would be circumspect about if it were brought up, and only some kind of robot or space alien could mistake the expressions and attitudes of Burnt Oak, Cup Cake, and the Mayor for anything other than relief at finally being able to share joyous memories of their dear friends with the kids those friends left behind.

It’s sad how obsessed some people can be.
Sad thing is that even if they see a body, they’ll still be in denial.

It’s already been confirmed by show staff at a Q&A that they are dead what more do people want? If they are expecting bodies then they are watching the wrong show.

That could mean anything, contextually. It’s relatively easy to suspect they’re still alive even after the two episodes, but yes, it’s definitely easier to assume they’re dead from the same exhibitions. :T
I really don’t know what more you could possibly want from them on this. How much more explicit do you want them to get on a kid show? There was a lot of animated kids show in the 90s that had blatantly dead parents that never got any more explicit about it than this outside of Batman IIRC.
Edit: I’m seriously convinced that there are people who wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less than an on-screen death at this point.
