I’d argue that Rutherford has a heart of gold but refuses to let it show as a sign of weakness (from E11). He couldn’t ask Pinkie to help to save his face, even though none of the other yaks would have likely complained. But when Pinkie snuck the other ponies to help, Rutherford was clearly relieved and showed his appreciation for Pinkie who saved his face but still helped.
So here, in the face of actual danger, Rutherford is clearly sticking to his heart-of-gold but showing a strong face by telling the ponies to escape. Nothing OOC, if you read though the actions from E11.
That she is. And we know he doesn’t mind hugs from Pink Pony.
I was kinda teasing with that remark, but yeah he probably warmed up to the pink one by now.
She is an “honorary yak” too. ;)
I don’t think it’s OOC at all. Rutherford cares for Pinkie a great deal and he really appreciates how she tries to acclimate to yak culture. Honestly, I had less problem with him in the two episodes than with Spitfire after Rainbow Falls, for example.
Wouldn’t that make him OOC? Or arguably, “character development,” after his time with Pinkie, and such.
I think Agnes draws him better then the ponies too. So much Yak favoritism! (J/k)
