Yeah. That was honestly the only real reason people thought they’d be alicorns– with the EOH gone, there’s not a real lot of specialness reccomending them to the task, and they don’t really figure into any “important” episodes.  
previously they had the most powerful magical force in equestria choosing them. Now, they just have a table, and all its done is send them on a couple slice of life problems with no discernable impact on the world. Ironically, the only thing that the map’s focused on that has any real impact in the world was tracking down Starlight.
 
Maybe there’ll be something in the movie, but in the show proper, not really much currently.

Eh, the other 5 as alicorns has died down almost completely in momentum due to the EOH’s removal from the show and the complete lack of presence the other 5 have had in almost 3 years for two parters.

I wish there were more Applecorn fanfics.
