This is literally progressive “comic book professionals” talking points, and it’s clear that JW is using Mina as a sock puppet to preach.

Correct, the only character you see before they are taken over as the Mane 6 is Mane-iac. Spike makes no note of any of them being a dragon and the only references are to how “Humdrum wears a cape that just gets in his way, which is his character.”

Oh totally, Luna got the short end of the stick on this one.
It would’ve worked better not as a Spike/Luna Friends Forever comic.
Why is this character such a major part of an issue about Luna and Spike, for one.
What’s so bad about it?
It is at this point probably the most insultingly bad thing to come out of this franchise.
By ignoring any sense of tastes they might have had at the time?
