The face really throws me off, it seems like the giraffe was designed to be as intelligent & verbal as ponies…

Glad there are (canon) giraffes in Equestria. Would have preferred them to be of pony/zebra/griffon intelligence, not wild critters.

This is going to bring up some interesting ties with Zecora. In “Pinkie Pride” a hippo was shown, but acted more like a show animal. Here we have a giraffe that travels to the vet and animal sanctuary. Zecora shows that there are zebras in the world and they have some sense of society given how Zecora lives. So…are the rest of them more animal than civilized or what?

maybe not because some ponies don’t have a speaking role and they don’t say anything so maybe in the future we might see more animals talking like ponies?

Good point, in the early episode we saw goats with mic but they don’t talk and in this episode we see animals doing human things and they don’t talk so they have feelings. why don’t we see a spell that can translate what their saying into English? and I don’t have proof but did Lauren Faust said all hooved creatures are like ponies that can talk? is there a species like Deers talking and a talking Giraffe? is Zecora can talk then why not other hooved animals?

Cute giraffe but it makes me question whay the divide is from other equine creatures and ponies.

I think we should name this giraffe character Colorado.

the giraffe is so cute

I notice that the giraffe is the only animal with “normal” eyes, so I like to imagine that it’s actually fully intelligent but just playing along because it likes Fluttershy and Dr. Fauna.

This giraffe weirds me out considering it acted as one of the show’s animals but had a very pony like face.  
I kept expecting them to talk & for the show to have pulled a fast one on us like they did with the sheep.

“Everybody say ‘Colorado!’”  
“I’M A GIRAFFE!”
