Also, the glow thing means it'd not work while in the hazmat suit (gas can't go through in *either* direction), meaning it's not caused by gas and the magic is very likely not physical. Rarity blocking spiral blocking magic could be just pattern disruption - e.g. if you prevent part of program code from executing, entire program will likely stop working - with physical-magic being unnecessary.
