For the most part, yes, but there’s a pretty large amount of art commissioned and drawn by his followers. The series and pairing have a pretty nice size support cast.

It’s pretty popular because of their personalities (being similar yet different). Peter’s a wise-cracking, hyperactive nerdy hero (and chemist) with a guilt complex. Twilight’s a straight-laced, no-nonsense dorky princess (librarian) with hints of an obsessive attitude. They sort of balance each other out.
 
Plus, it started from a crossover fanfic. It got REALLY popular. The first story of the series has over 2000 likes, and the author has well over 1000 followers. The story itself treats both series with respect, especially Spider-Man (who had been crapped on by Marvel SO many times in recent memory– One More Day). I think that’s where the popularity of the story and spidertwi started.
