just becasue you enjoy fluttercord doesn’t mean you have to go around telling people dislestia is wrong becasue it’s not canon. you keep this behavior up and it’s gonna be a ban.

That’s why there is conflict between shippers. Dislestia create their versions of characters to make the ship legitimate while FLuttercord shippers use the characters behavior and interaction from the show. The minimum of headcanon they use is to interpret whether Discord really has a crush on her while Dislestia need a whole sortiment of mental gymnastics to make them work, which kind of make them look like they don’t care about the characters that they are supposedly biggest fans of.

You do realize that people only pay attention to the canon when it suits them, right? Ships aren’t meant to be taken too seriously. If they were, Rarity and Twilight wouldn’t be shipped with female characters.

A character who is his friend is a more likely love interest than a character that isn’t his friend. And that work both ways since Celestia won’t have kids with somoene who doesn’t spend time with her or even care whether she gets harmed by Tirek, Plunderseeds, Smooze or Chrysalis.

Honestly, I ship him with Celestia partly since she has shown to be prober and still have a wild-side, and would be able to teach him a few things while still having fun. Fluttershy is more of the friend that helps him learn how to behave and that he try to stay on her good side, mostly since they respect each other. As a father, I think he’ll try, but it will be Celestia that raises their child for the most part.

Im starting to think that FlutterCord and Dislestia shippers just interpret his whole character differently. For Dislestia shippers he is that powerfull, charismatic and confident dark lord from S2 who treat Celestia as his peer and play thing. But for 4 seasons we get to know him more, and he is just that “troublemaking kid” in a classroom who pull other girls pigtails and try to take all the attention because that’s how he shows that he doesn’t want to be lonely. Fluttershy would be his fellow peer who treat him nicely and Celestia the teacher who try to cut him some slack. I think this interpetation is closer to his canon character and why Fluttershy fit more in his shipping spectrum or why writers prefer to ship tease them. So the shipping conflict is basically Old Discord Vs New Discord fans.
