Well, apparently while the basic layout mirrors black lagoon, because of who and what the cast consists of, they can reference other things so long as it fits the characters.
 
The “inner connections of higher power” is rather commonplace in all anime I’m almost certain it’s his biological parents in this aspect., Kinnikuman had it as a plot point.
 
The larger form that feeds off of a set goal indeed has shades of AOT. Had it been a form that was exhibiting “excessive self defense”, I would say it actually is closer to bio Booster Armor Guyver in which the main character got his brain tore out during a fight and his armor took over with the single goal of “stay safe”, but because the armor is a weapon, the self defense mode ruthlessly slaughters anything it perceives as a threat.. In fact, I’m not so sure it isn’t similar to Guyver in that aspect just yet, as Spike KNOWS she is a threat, not just in terms of an opponent, but her connections as well if she were to escape.

I can’t help but feel a bit of an Attack On Titan vibe from this, y’know from when Eren goes into Titan mode and goes into a bloodthirsty rampage. I gotta say pia-sama has taken influences from two great series of manga and anime and meshed it quite well with the world of mlp. I’m still hoping for an “Octavia’s Blood Trail” type arc in the story as it unfolds.

Considering Spike was already quite strong and resilient to gunfire, and 00284 lost her anti tank rifle AND is far from 100%, combined with her arrogance, at worst, we’ll get a repeat of this scene.
