It was an ass pull and instead of a great heroic sacrifice, he’s now a copy-paste of the Mirror Sombra in that arc.
Hey, they may not like light, but they might have just not liked it. That doesn’t mean that they’re evil.
They didn’t do anything questionable.
It ended on a happy note! What’s so bad about that?
So Princess Amore, the one that tried to help Sombra and your character, who Sombra killed, doesn’t count? And doesn’t it seems odd that they forbid any form of light, or that their “warrior” was an edgelord who has slavery and murder under his belt. 1,000 years is a pretty long time to not question the motives of a race that has everything to gain by using you. Seriously, that comic arc was dumb, especially the forced happy ending.
I trust them because they are the nicest creatures I have ever encountered. They told me that he was their warrior to save them. I wasn’t going to just let him die!
That would be too dumb, so why not invite every villain to trap the heroes of Equestria because shadow monsters that hide behind an illusionary spell that could be dispelled by a candle told you so, even though you have no real reason to trust them.
