I’m pretty sure those are called key poses, not keyframes, and that is a massive oversimplification, as it ignores things like extremes, breakdowns, and overlapping action. Not only that, but the concept is completely inapplicable to straight-ahead animation, it only applies to pose-to-pose animation
@Deserter
I do not understand your questions. It’s just a program, different studios use it differently, depending on their specialties and what they’re told to do. And what do you mean by “keyframes”? As far as I know, in 2d, the term “keyframe” only applies to puppets.
@Deserter
Toonboom does have support for puppets, although they do not follow the symbol/movie clip hierarchy as in Flash (Toonboom mostly just relies on having a lot of layers in a scene, while Flash allows layers to be pulled into/hidden in “symbols”).
@Tetrominon
Toon boom is only an animation software. WHY does EVERYONE assume that them switching to another software automatically equate to them using a completely different method of animation?
@Deserter
He’s only an effects animator, not a character animator. Whether or not they use puppets is irrelevant. We must also remember that he worked with jayson thiessen on some shorts that were animated in flash with puppets.
@Bexar Bandito
I meant drawn frame-by-frame, instead of by Flash, considering everything Gagné worked wasn’t done with puppets, there’s no reason to bring him in if they’re gonna use that.
