@Background Pony #3DEA We didn’t, but it doesn’t feel right to just completely drop primary characters that could appear in this situation, not just because we are losing the main characters who were all together in The My Little Pony Movie, but also because it can almost feel like a completely different series when two or three episodes next to each other have NONE of the same characters. To Change a Changeling was a total waste because it had no main characters and Pharynx was never seen or mentioned again! :(

True, but I still would have liked to see a cameo where Rainbow and Applejack ask them to join and they explain why they can’t.

Even if Twilight, Rarity and Starlight weren’t interested in buckball, I still would have liked to see Party Favor try it. They could have just been on screen for 3 minutes with other background ponies like Lyra or DJ Pon-3 or Minuette instead of the artists wasting time making entirely new designs for ponies we would never see again and the rest of the episode would be left unchanged. If Snails was a buckball team member with Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, then Party Favor might as well also be a buckball team member with Rainbow Dash and Applejack so Samuel Vincent can be with Ashleigh Ball again after Littlest Pet Shop ended in 2016. Kyle Rideout, the voice of Thorax, told me “Vinnie misses that show every day” at the 2017 Baltimore Brony Con when I asked how he felt about Littlest Pet Shop being over.

Since the very beginning? Well, I just figured who we’re actually focusing on would naturally have the rest of the main cast trail behind them. That’s how it worked in Griffon the Brush-Off, Owl’s Well That Ends Well, Read it and Weep, Wonderbolt Academy, Daring Don’t, Pinkie Pride, The Mane Attraction, and Flutter Brutter. If Twilight, Rarity and Starlight were some of the unicorn candidates and gave us reasons why they couldn’t go on the buckball team, the rest of the episode would be 100% the same once Snails comes into the scene. It barely feels like a MLP episode at all without Twilight.

I always figured Twilight and Rarity could have just showed up as possible unicorn candidates, instead of all those other ponies we never saw even as background ponies. Where were Lyra and Starlight Glimmer and Trixie and DJ Pon-3 and Snips? Snails was the only familiar unicorn character in this episode (except for Lyra appearing in the crowd later). Those strange new ponies must have put them in a pocket dimension. I’m joking of course, but seriously, they could have had all of them be candidates from 3:15 to 6:13 and the rest of the episode would be 100% the same. Twilight and Rarity could try and just turn out to not be good at buckball and that’s all we would need to see of them.

Personally I’d have Starlight in every episode and have her write friendship letters to Celestia about what she learned that day.

The less starlight glimmer, the better.

1: Rarity doesn’t like getting her mane or anything mussed up. Lipstick Pony was her “stand in” showing how she’d lose her concentration on the game.
 
2: Twilight would be too set on over analyzing everything, but also, she’s no longer “just” a unicorn so it may disqualify her.
 
3: Starlight is TOO powerful. Her tendency to OVERDO a simple spell could result in catastrophic consequences. She also is most likely having a threesome studying with Spike and Twilight.

Here’s a crazy thought… maybe they just didn’t want to go? I know, it’s weird, it’s like not every character has to be in every event or something!

From what I’ve seen, I’d say it’s like that mostly just with Starlight and I think this really needs to go.
 
Usually the fans of some supporting character don’t make a fuss because they didn’t make an apearance even when it would have been a good fit (but not a necessity for the story to go on), but with her it’s getting to the point where this now happens after every episode and they are starting to make themselves look like they are very desperate to have this supporting character look validated in everyone’s eyes or something.

Though its a recent trend, I do like this game of “Why the hell wasn’t Twilight, Starlight, Rarity, Celestia, Luna, or Spike in this episode/the main star of this episode.” :D
 
I like to think if the show continued on for enough seasons, it would extend to all the pony royalty, dragons, and background characters.
 
Edit: Episode could have also used Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, Twist, Babs Seed, and Gilda.

Twilight drove herself crazy trying to figure out what position an alicorn would play, wondering if she’d have to play all three positions at once by herself because alicorns have the traits of all three pony races, worrying that her friends would be mad at her for showboating, etc., until Spike managed to convince her that she wouldn’t lose all her friends and get sent back to magic kindergarten.
 
Starlight actually tried to play all three positions at once before Applejack and Rainbow Dash could explain that they were already on the team, then left out of embarrassment once that was cleared up.
 
Rarity said she’d wait until they had indoor stadiums and fancier uniforms.

At this point, I’m pretty much just hoping Starlight Glimmer will be in the season finale, not expecting to see her much before then.

Every Little Thing She Does;
 
“Although Starlight Glimmer is excelling at her magical studies with Twilight Sparkle, she has been avoiding her friendship lessons. Feeling pressure to impress her teacher, Starlight attempts to tackle several friendship problems at once, with questionable results”
 
This is the episode where Starlight will put every friendship lesson shes learned this season to the test.
 
We all saw those, they explained it in detail at the end of every episode X3

Rarity probably doesn’t want to get her hooves dirty, Twilight’s most likely seeing a therapist after her and Celestia’s “Friendship meeting” in Yakyakistan (I know I would) and now we’re back to #WherestheGlimGlam.
