Beginning to wonder if Pencils is going to pull a “well, that happened” and not show the gory details but just show Mother and Daughter walking away from some blood with most of it off-screen.
Things these creatures don’t know that may have saved their lives.
1.) Cloudy Quartz is former Royal Guard.
2.) Cloudy Quartz is an earth pony, which their great physical strength is only surpassed by Alicorns.
3.) Cloudy Quartz is a rock farmer, meaning her and her family are stronger than most other earth ponies.
4.) Cloudy Quartz is a mother with one of her daughters, and is going to protect her daughter, making her ever stronger, and far more dangerous.
Had these creatures known these simple facts, they would have stayed hidden in the cracks of the cave and left well alone. Sadly, for them, they are ignorant, and instead of bliss, it will be sever pain/ death that they shall experience.

Not necessarily. Her front hooves are definitely gripped onto that thing, but it’s unknown exactly how that gripping works or how strong it is. Could be magic, or could be gecko type micro-structure on the pads of the hooves.
