Emerald asks where she is staying though.
“Oh! We have some tents set up out back behind the building. Initially we were going to make sleeping quarters inside but… Well, we’ve had such an influx of injured refugees that we had to give it up.”
Emerald asks what Hope knows about the Order of the Arrow.
“They are the most wonderful protectors!” Hope says with a huge grin, “They give their all to protect us from the enemies within and from out. I can’t imagine how badly the raids were to have gone had the representatives from the Order of the Arrow not been there…”
Emerald comments that Ruby could be that kind of warrior. The kind that protects the ones they love. The kind that protects the weak and those unable to defend themselves.
“Ah, oh… Yes, that is true. My father likes to make that exc~~… Likes to use that reasoning when we speak.” Hope says with another smile, but Emerald notices a little worry behind her face.
Emerald asks about her father. They seem to butt heads all the time and he is curious why.
“I… I just can’t stand the thought that my families fortune is based on the bloodshed of others.” Hope says, a little sadly, “And he expects me to take it up after he dies. How could I possibly~~ No, sorry. I shouldn’t be talking about this! This is a happy time, it’s been so long since I’ve seen you Emerald! Plus, I’ve also made a new friend!”
Hope then turns to Ruby, causing the filly to smile awkwardly back up at her.
Trying to change the subject a little, Emerald asks how far away the war is, and how long she is going to be stationed here.
“It’s not that far away actually, a few miles southwest of here is the current front, or so I’m told. It does change all the time after all. As for how long I’m stationed here… Well, I intend to stay as long as they need me.” Hope says proudly.
